Vision
Transforming the New Mexico Community Health Worker Association (NMCHWA) from a volunteer/grant funded organization to a professional self-sustaining organization.
Mission
To nurture the community health worker model to collectively improve access and quality of health care for New Mexicans by advocating for and empowering its members.

- Develop and implement a leadership track during the 11th Annual NMCHWA Conference as measured by a written revised vision statement.
- Increase the number of conference participants from 78 to 95 in 2006.

Goals/objectives:
- To diversify NMCHWA revenue sources by 2006 as measured by participating and making presentation during the “Combined Federal Campaign”.
- To create an individual donor list by mid 2007 as measured by a list of donors contributing a minimum total of $15,000.00 annually to NMCHWA
- To diversify NMCHWA revenue sources by December 31, 2006 as measured by Mano En Mano Thrift Store contributing a minimum of $20,000.00 annually to NMCHWA.
- To continue writing grants in 2006, as measured by five grants written contributing a minimum of $20,000.00 annually to NMCHWA.
III. Major social challenges, critical issues and opportunities such as lifestyle developments and trends facing NMCHWA.

1) To bridge the gap between Community Health Workers and EMTs and nurses.
2)To bridge the gap between doctors and Community Health Workers.
Strategy: NMCHWA shall play a major roll in the development of certification discussion and controlling role in the implementation of certification from actual training to the certification of its members and non-members.

Goals/Objectives:

2) Create a professional website by 2009 as measured by a website library/resource center, interactive training sessions and on line certification.
VI. Demographic challenges, critical issues and opportunities such as population growth, education, age shifts, family changes, geographic shifts, income and distribution of population facing NMCHWA.

- NMCHWA shall create community partnerships with other organizations where there are equal mutual benefits between the two organizations as measured by Board of Director approval. Such as NMPHA, County Health Councils, The Sanctuary Zone, New Mexico Commission on the Status of Woman and others.
